AEW unveiled their latest surprise performer on the May 18 Wild Card Wednesday edition of AEW: Dynamite, as Johnny Elite/Impact/Morrison/Mundo/Nitro made his AEW debut.
Elite lost to Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Quarter Finals after a spirited display, but a report from PWInsider suggests this was just a one-off appearance for the time being.
The report states that the door is open for Elite/Mundo/Morrison to make future appearances for AEW down the line, whilst the former WWE Intercontinental Champion currently enjoying a run on the indies for the likes of GCW and AAA.
Elite’s match with Samoa Joe on Wednesday was the first time the former TNA/IMPACT World Champions had ever clashed in singles competition, with Joe getting the win with a Muscle Buster after getting the knees up during a Starship Pain attempt.
Morrison was released from his WWE contract in November 2021 after a two-year run with the company. Morrison originally wrestled for WWE from 2002-2011, under the names Johnny Nitro and John Morrison.
