Report: Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair Have Backstage Confrontation After WWE SmackDown

Following the title swap segment

Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair had a confrontation backstage after WWE SmackDown went off the air, according to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

The segment was the one in which Raw Women's champion Charlotte Flair and SmackDown Women's champion Becky Lynch were to swap their belts, due to each woman changing brands in this month's Draft.

According to Johnson's report, Flair had voiced concerns prior to the segment that she didn't want herself or her title reign to "look weak" during the segment.

There was a moment during the exchange in which Flair pulled her belt away from Lynch during the expected handoff, and instead threw it to the mat. According to Johnson's report, this wasn't planned to happen.

Sonya Deville demanded that Flair pick up the belt and hand it to Lynch, which she did. When it came time for Lynch to hand her belt over, she also threw it, which was also not part of the plan.

After Sasha Banks' involvement in the end of the segment, Flair and Lynch confronted each other backstage. Per one of Johnson's sources, the sentiment was that Flair had tried to "make Lynch look bad" by disrespecting her with the belt throw.

Johnson's report also notes that, while loud words were exchanged, "the situation was heated but did not get physical."
