Brian Cage is reportedly out of action with a knee injury, with the All Elite Wrestling star having allegedly missed recent indie dates.

On AEW TV, Cage and tag partner Lance Archer were being set up for a tag title clash with champions The Hurt Business, but on the March 26 edition of Dynamite plans seemed to pivot with The Learning tree duo of Bryan Keith and big Bill appearing to step up to the duo of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.

During a discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer suggests that Cage picked up an injury at a recent independent show:

“I had gotten, Thursday night, I got an email from someone who I don’t know with a photo of Brian Cage holding his knee and said he’s wrestling Chris Masters, I don’t even know the city – I don’t know that this is true, so I probably shouldn’t be saying it – but he did miss the Chris Bey show. He was supposed to wrestle Rich Swann. And Archer and Brian Cage were, I believe, slotted for this pay-per-view [Dynasty] against The Hurt Business and now all of a sudden it’s Big Bill and Brian Keith,” said Meltzer.

The Cage vs. Masters match in question was for Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes’ OWA Pro Wrestling in Los Angeles on March 20, with Cagematch listing the bout as a no contest.

Whether the pivot from Murder Machines vs. Hurt Business to Learning Tree vs. Hurt Business is due to a potential injury is unknown, with Cage missing the March 26 Dynamite to attend the wedding of Ricochet and Samantha Irvin.
