Report: Changes Made To The AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament

Spoilers inside...

Kenny Omega was scheduled to clash with Joey Janela on Dynamite this week in the first round of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament. Janela was pulled from Dynamite before the show, however, because he had been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Sonny Kiss replaced The Bad Boy and was defeated by Omega in 26 seconds.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Cleaner will again face a replacement opponent on next week's Dynamite. The show was taped last night and Omega was scheduled to face off against Rey Fenix, but AEW kept the former AAA Mega Champion off the show as a precaution. He was replaced by his brother Penta El Zero M, who he defeated in the first round.

Fenix reportedly told friends that he was okay, but AEW didn't want to take any risks after he injured his neck on Wednesday. The injury came after he hit his brother with a Twisting Headscissors and landed on his neck and shoulder.
