Report: Chelsea Green Almost Had Very Different Name For WWE Debut
Vince McMahon Had A 'Winning' Nickname In Mind...
Nov 19, 2020
As previously reported, Chelsea Green suffered a broken wrist during her Friday Night SmackDown debut last week.
Green made her debut in a fatal four-way match with Liv Morgan, Natalya and Tamina.
A place on the women's SmackDown Survivor Series team was on the line.
According to reports, Green was scheduled to win the match. When she suffered the injury, WWE officials made the call on the fly to have Morgan win instead.
Now, per a new report from Fightful, it appears as though WWE were toying with the idea of giving her a new name for her main roster debut.
According to Fightul, the name "Victorious" was discussed and even appeared on the runsheet for the show that day. There was, at one point, a plan for her to refer to herself by the name in a post-match promo (after she had won the match).
Vince had met with Green for a creative meeting earlier in the day.
However, some in the company raised concerns that the new name could cause a trademark issue. One possible source of conflict could be the Nickelodeon TV series Victorious, which ran from 2010-2013.
Chelsea will now be out of action for the next few months while she recovers from her injury. It remains to be seen if she will use the proposed new name when she returns to action.
