Chris Charlton to be back by the New Japan Cup

Following initial reports that Chris Charlton was on indefinite hiatus from New Japan Pro-Wrestling following his anti-AEW comments at Wrestle Dynasty, it has been revealed that Charlton has actually been suspended for two months by the promotion.
Fightful Select and Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer have reported that Charlton has been suspended. NJPW claimed to Fightful that AEW and Tony Khan did not have input on Charlton's suspension. AEW were reportedly unhappy about Charlton's comments, however.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that there is a lot of heat on Chris Charlton following his comments but he will be back by the New Japan Cup.
"He's gonna be back for the New Japan Cup, but there's a lot of heat on him. It was interesting because every response was like this made him out to be this martyr. It was just bad judgement, I'm a fan of Chris Charlton and everything but it was just bad judgement. I think some of it is you can't be using those podcaster grifter terms, that is such terrible judgement," Meltzer said.
It was further reported by Meltzer that it was Bushiroad CEO Takaaki Kidani who decided to suspend Charlton and the NJPW owner was furious with Charlton for insulting a business partner on a show AEW co-promoted with New Japan. A lot of people Meltzer spoke to said they would have fired Charlton if they were the person making the call.
Charlton ended up with heat after he called Tony Khan a "money mark" and questioned what Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Jay White had done since signing with All Elite Wrestling. Charlton made the comments during Kenny Omega vs. Gabe Kidd, a match in which Kidd was positioned as the defender of New Japan. Charlton also unfavourably compared the AEW Continental Classic to NJPW's G1 Climax.
