Report Claims WWE Would Not Allow Toni Storm Face Bea Priestley In Stardom

NXT UK Women's Champion not allowed to face AEW star...

Yesterday, Stardom announced that the upcoming matchup between Bea Priestley and Toni Storm on May 16 was going to have to be cancelled due to “circumstances beyond our control.”

It has been revealed that WWE didn't want their NXT UK Women's Champion Storm taking part in the match, presumably because Priestley has recently been signed to All Elite Wrestling.

Here's what the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter had to say on the cancelled match: "Toni Storm from WWE was in Stardom this past week. She defeated Tam Nakano on 5/3, went to a 15:00 draw with Momo Watanabe on 5/4 and defeated Andras Miyagi on 5/5.

"The plan was to build Priestley vs. Storm for the 5/16 show at Korakuen Hall. Stardom announced that due to circumstances behind their control, the match couldn’t take place. WWE was the ones who cracked down on it, refusing to allow their U.K. women’s champion to face someone who is with AEW. Most likely the issue was it being a title match and Priestley would have had to have won the match."
