Report: CM Punk's ROH Death Before Dishonor Tweet Considered A Shot At Matt Jackson's Wife
Some in AEW think CM Punk took a shot at Matt Jackson's wife earlier this Summer
Issues between The Elite and CM Punk came to the fore once again over the past week after Punk took shots at Hangman Page in a post-Collision promo on August 12. The promo was ultimately said to be a joke that backfired and Punk has apologised to Hangman via text message, but the floodgates have opened about Punk and the power he wields on Collision, with the 44-year-old blocking talents from tapings of the Saturday night show.
Punk publicly brought up his issues with The Elite ahead of his AEW return in June in an interview with ESPN, and the two-time AEW World Champion then took a dig at The Young Bucks during his return promo, calling himself the one true genuine article in a world filled with "counterfeit bucks."
Punk seemingly made another veiled dig at The Elite earlier this Summer, though. It was noticed on Instagram ahead of the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on July 21 that Punk had posted a photo of an official t-shirt that had the wrong date listed for the event. Punk's post included a pic of the t-shirt with the caption, "Absolutely not shocking. How could this happen?" alongside crying laughing and thinking emojis.
The error was discovered quickly and was corrected long before Death Before Dishonor began, with none of the t-shirts with the wrong date being sold, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Punk posting an image of the t-shirt, though, was perceived by some within AEW as a shot at Dana Massie, the wife of Matt Jackson. Massie is in charge of AEW merchandise and has been since the promotion was founded in 2019.
While it was simply an Instagram post, it is unlikely taking a perceived shot at Matt Jackson's wife will have helped improve relations between The Elite and CM Punk.
