Report: CM Punk Still Has 'Major Heat' With Top WWE Names

With the news of CM Punk’s AEW firing dominating headlines, there will undoubtedly be talk about “what happens next” for the former two-time AEW World Champion. Punk has had no issue walking away from professional wrestling in the past, but a destination he may want to explore is WWE, though a report from Fightful Select has suggested that this may not be too easy, as he has backstage heat with some in the promotion.
“While it was noted the termination was with cause, thus far we do not know if there is a non-compete attached, or a severance or severance period. As a result, we don’t know when Punk would be eligible for a move to another wrestling company. He still has major heat with numerous top names in WWE, and was asked to leave earlier this year when he showed up. There had been no real expectations or plans of Punk heading to WWE, and most people we spoke to there didn’t think he was going to be fired.”
Punk turned up backstage at WWE unannounced amidst his time away from AEW through injury, speaking with several names including Triple H, though due to him not being a member of the roster, he was eventually removed from the building.
