The saga that is CM Punk's future with All Elite Wrestling continues to rumble on and a new update on the two-time AEW World Champion has emerged today.

According to Fightful Select, Punk has repeatedly told AEW that he wants to return to the promotion and he has laid out numerous scenarios for a potential comeback. Among those scenarios is a willingness to work with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks but any potential programme with The Elite appears to be unlikely, with Fightful noting Omega and The Bucks weren't keen on a storyline at least as of a few months ago. Punk has also stated he is willing to be completely separate from The Elite and is "open to working elsewhere". If that means Ring of Honor or another promotion altogether is unknown.

Some talent believe the heavily rumoured third AEW show that will air on Saturday nights could be utilised to keep Punk separate from The Elite but AEW higher-ups have not confirmed this.

CM Punk and The Elite were not on friendly terms as of September 2022 due to the backstage fight that saw Punk and Ace Steel brawl with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks following Punk's infamous post-All Out media scrum. All involved were suspended and The Elite later returned, while Ace Steel was fired. Punk remained on the sidelines with a torn triceps but reports in recent weeks noted the 44-year-old had agreed in principle to come back to AEW.

The status of that agreement is unknown following Punk's outburst on Instagram in late March in which he called out AEW, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, and Dave Meltzer. Dax Harwood has been campaigning in recent days for Punk to team with FTR against The Elite at All In from Wembley Stadium on August 27.
