Report: Dark Side Of The Ring "On Hold”

Dark Side of the Ring not returning for season four anytime soon

The popular Vice documentary series Dark Side of the Ring is reportedly on hold for the time being.

The move comes as showrunners Evan Husney and Jason Eisener have signed on to produce a more "sanitised" show, pitched as “campfire talks” about the old days of wrestling, with heavy involvement from WWE.

The new partnership with WWE will give Husney and Eisener access to WWE’s vast archives, and it’s been reported that names such as Stone Cold Steve Austin have filmed content for the new series, with other WWE legends set to follow suit.

Despite garnering critical acclaim, Dark Side of the Ring attracted its share of controversy, especially after the Plane Ride from Hell episode aired as part of season three in 2021, with many wrestling names reportedly not willing to work on the show after that episode aired.

Earlier in May, Vice said they were as ‘committed as ever’ to Dark Side of the Ring, after fears the show could be cancelled. So whilst this new deal with WWE has put a pin in the series for now, that’s not to say it won’t return at a later date.
