Report: Decision On CM Punk's AEW Future "Months Away"

CM Punk is reportedly "on ice" for the time being

A resolution on CM Punk's future with All Elite Wrestling is still some time away according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Punk has been away from AEW since the now-infamous backstage fight involving himself, Ace Steel and The Elite following Punk's post-All Out media scrum in September. Punk was suspended and stripped of the AEW World Championship following the incident and it was noted in late 2022 that he and AEW were in talks over a contract buyout and the 44-year-old was ready to move on.

Since then, though, there has been no official announcement about Punk's future and he has appeared open to a return in his recent social media posts.

The Second City Saviour suffered a torn triceps in the main event of All Out and this ultimately means any final decision on Punk's future is "months away", Meltzer reported. On Punk's side, it is believed that AEW President Tony Khan has "put Punk on ice for now." No ideas have been presented to the 44-year-old for a return but there has also been no talk as of late about him being released.

Punk returned to pro wrestling with AEW in August of 2021. He is a two-time AEW World Champion.
