Report: Details On Adam Cole's Meeting Before WWE SmackDown

Cole's contractual situation has been in the news

It was reported Friday afternoon that NXT performer Adam Cole was due to meet with Vince McMahon prior to that evening's SmackDown tapings in Tampa.

An update from Fightful Select claims that a couple of hours prior to SmackDown, Cole was taken to meet with McMahon. The report indicates that the meeting went well, and that McMahon, "...seemed to have taken a liking to Adam Cole on a personal level."

Cole was apparently not backstage during the SmackDown taping itself.

Fightful's report adds that there have been pitches for Cole on both Raw and SmackDown over the last week, should he choose to re-sign with WWE. According to the report, "...it was communicated to Cole that he is wanted on the main roster."

Cole's WWE contract reportedly expired in early July, seemingly without anybody in the office realizing it. He apparently agreed to an extension with WWE that would carry him through SummerSlam weekend, but his future beyond that point isn't set in stone.

Reports came out Friday that AEW had made Cole an offer, but Tony Khan has denied that claim.
