Report: DOUKI Suffered Dislocated Elbow At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19

The exact nature of the injury DOUKI sustained at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 has been revealed.

DOUKI entered Wrestle Kingdom as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion for a hotly-anticipated match against former Suzuki-gun faction mate El Desperado. The match immediately featured plenty of risks with Despe hitting a Senton to the outside.

The big moves then only continued but disaster struck five minutes into the contest as DOUKI landed awkwardly following a Tope Rope Seated Senton to the floor. The match was quickly waved off by the referee and El Desperado won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title by forfeit.

It was initially suspected that DOUKI had suffered a broken arm. Tokyo Sports have since reported, however, that DOUKI sustained a dislocated left elbow.

El Desperado noted following the Wrestle Kingdom match that he and DOUKI would run it back when the former champion is able to wrestle. A dislocated elbow typically has a recovery time of six to twelve weeks.

DOUKI has been with New Japan since 2019, joining the company as El Desperado's replacement in the Best of the Super Juniors.
