Report: Drew McIntyre Not Close To Signing New WWE Deal

Drew McIntyre isn't close to putting pen to paper on a new WWE deal

Although Better Wrestling Experience had reported that Drew McIntyre had signed a new contract with WWE, it appears the two-time WWE Champion has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal with the company.

According to Alex McCarthy of Daily Mail, Drew McIntyre has not signed a new contract with WWE and "talks aren't close to being finalised." Negotiations continue, however, and both sides are hopeful they will be able to reach a deal before McIntyre's contract expires in April shortly after WrestleMania 40.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has also stated that Drew McIntyre has not signed a new contract but both he and WWE are operating under the assumption that he will be re-signing with the company. Fightful Select noted they had been told talk of McIntyre putting pen to paper was not accurate.

McIntyre is in his second run with WWE, having returned to the company in 2017. He will be in a headline match at WrestleMania 40 when he challenges Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. McIntyre earned the title shot by winning the men's Elimination Chamber match at the namesake pay-per-view.

McIntyre suffered a minor injury in the match, although he hasn't missed any time and even had a joke about his injury at the expense of CM Punk on Monday Night Raw.
