Could a legendary tag team be reuniting in All Elite Wrestling very soon?

Speculation has swirled about Edge's future in recent weeks after the 11-time world champion revealed his August 18 clash with Sheamus in Toronto would be the final match of his current WWE contract. The Rated-R Superstar then revealed his WWE contract expires in September and he was unsure if he was going to retire following his match in Toronto.

Edge might be set to continue his pro wrestling career in another promotion, though. According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, Edge presented to WWE what they would need to offer for him to re-sign. WWE, however, declined to meet Edge's request and the belief within WWE is that Edge is "probably headed to AEW" and the WWE Hall of Famer knew what AEW could offer him. Tony Khan is said to be a big fan of the 49-year-old.

Although the belief within WWE is Edge is AEW-bound, he was given a big celebration for his 25th anniversary and possible final WWE match because he is well-liked within the company. Management also reportedly doesn't resent the possibility of Edge signing with AEW.

Should Edge join AEW, this would put him in the same promotion as longtime best friend Christian Cage. AEW and Edge previously held talks back in 2019 when Edge was planning to come out of retirement. The Rated-R Superstar decided to sign with WWE at that time, though, making his in-ring return at Royal Rumble 2020.
