Report: Eric Young Returned To WWE Earlier This Year

Earlier this year, it emerged that former world champion Eric Young had asked for and was granted his release from TNA Wrestling, with it emerging soon after that he was expected to be returning to WWE in a player-coach role, similar to that of Shawn Spears. In the time since, there were some rumblings about Young eyeing up a return for around September time, though nothing had surfaced on that front. There has finally been some more word on Young’s status.

During a Q&A on PWInsider, Mike Johnson revealed recently that Eric Young had already made his return to WWE. It was noted that he had started working for the promotion as a producer in NXT all the way back in July, though Johnson noted that he wasn’t sure if Young would be wrestling in his comeback to the promotion.

Young last departed WWE in 2022 during his second run with the company, but never appeared on-screen and requested his release in lieu of the Vince McMahon lawsuit scandal. Young had previously worked for WWE between the years of 2016 and 2020.
