While all of the advertised matches took place, All Elite Wrestling were forced to scrap some of their plans for Wednesday night's edition of Dynamite due to the blizzard which struck Omaha, Nebraska.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that segments scheduled for the show didn't go ahead as planned as the talent were unable to make it to Omaha. Tony Khan felt the wrestlers who did make it to Omaha went above and beyond, though. Many talents had to drive from Kansas City through the blizzard, while AEW World Champion Jon Moxley drove 11 hours to make the show and Mercedes Moné drove to Omaha from Des Moines, Iowa.
"Everyone advertised got there but I was told a lot of people were not there. That's one of the reasons the matches went so long is because a lot of the segments that were scheduled were scrapped. I heard a lot of people weren't there but every single person advertised was there and they managed to deliver every match," Meltzer said.
"There were people who had to fly to Kansas City because they couldn't land in Omaha and drive from Kansas City. With Mercedes [Moné], she had to drive in from Des Moines in the blizzard and everything. I know the feeling is, especially from Tony Khan, that he really felt that people went over and above because everybody tried and people went through a lot, Moxley being a key one. People went through a lot to get there when they easily could have said, 'Look it's just too much.' And I think he would have accepted that but that didn't happen, everyone that was important to the show got there and even the Collision shows, the matches they advertised on Collision all took place."
One of the key matches on the AEW Collision taping saw Daniel Garcia defend the TNT Championship against Adam Cole. The result of the match, which will air on Saturday night, has already been revealed.
After driving 11 hours, Jon Moxley was impaled with a spiked bat for his trouble during his Street Fight with Cope. Moxley ultimately successfully defended the AEW World Title following interference from the Death Riders and The Patriarchy.
