AEW was hit with a lawsuit in recent weeks, with both Kevin Kelly and The Tate Twins (formerly The Boys in AEW & ROH) attempting to sue the company, Tony Khan, and Ian Riccaboni. The suit contains claims of alleged defamation and to void the arbitration clause in their contracts, requesting the court to certify a class-action lawsuit over the misclassification of AEW performers being independent contracts rather than employees. This is due to a belief that AEW holds more control over their talent than they should. The Tate Twins are also filing for wrongful termination.

Amidst this lawsuit, some monetary and financial information has been revealed, with both Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and John Pollock noting that AEW’s Senior Vice President of Business Strategy, Chris Harrington, wrote that since 2022 AEW have paid “more than $60,000,000 in aggregate” to for both wrestling and non-wrestling talent. On average, this would mean around $207,000 per wrestler over that two year period from 2022, though it is known that certain talent will earn much more and less than that figure.
