Report: IMPACT 'Making A Play' For Buddy Murphy

Could the former Cruiserweight Champion be heading to the IMPACT Zone?

The no compete clauses of recently released WWE stars are starting to expire, as seen in recent weeks as Malakai Black appeared on AEW: Dynamite to kick Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes’ heads into the fifth row, whilst Chelsea Green appeared on ROH TV to be inserted into the Women’s Title Tournament.

One name that is sure to attract a host of offers is that of Buddy Murphy, and a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims Murphy could be IMPACT bound.

“Don’t know anything regarding AEW, but do know that Impact is making a major play for the former Murphy,” stated Meltzer.

Murphy would be a great get for IMPACT, able to seamlessly slot into the X Division, or into the main roster. He wouldn’t be the only released lower/mid-card star given a fresh opportunity in IMPACT, as Brian Myers, Matt Cardona, Steve Maclin (fka Steve Cutler) and W.Morrissey (fka big Cass) all currently thriving in the IMPACT Zone.
