Report: John Cena Set For Imminent WWE Return

Cena is coming back

John Cena is reportedly set to return to WWE for the first time in over a year in the next 10 days.

Cena hasn't been seen on WWE television since losing a Firefly Fun House Match to 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 last year, but reports have circulated in recent weeks that the 16-time World Champion will be back as fans return to the WWE product.

With WWE getting back to live shows and touring on Friday, Fightful Select is reporting that the working assumption backstage in WWE is that Cena is returning with the working plan being for him to appear on the Friday 23 July episode of SmackDown.

There is a possibility, however, that Cena could show up on any of WWE's television shows in the coming ten days.

A return to SmackDown next Friday would come following this Sunday's Money In The Bank pay-per-view and could be the start of building a rumoured feud with Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Reigns is scheduled to defend his Title against Edge this weekend and rumours are that WWE want 'The Tribal Chief' and Cena to main-event SummerSlam in August.
