Report: Josh Woods Under Contract With AEW

Josh Woods attacked Keith Lee on the July 27 AEW: Dynamite

Josh Woods made a shock appearance on the July 27 edition of AEW: Dynamite, laying out Keith Lee backstage and putting his hands on Lee’s AEW Tag Team Championship belt, seemingly suggesting an alliance with Tony Nese.

Now, a report from Fightful Select has revealed that Woods is apparently under a ‘tiered contract’ with AEW/ROH, with the former ROH Pure Champion having also appeared at last weekend’s Death Before Dishonor 2022 PPV as a judge for the Pure Title bout between Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia.

Fightful’s report also revealed that not everyone who appeared at Death Before Dishonor was signed to a tiered or full-time deal with ROH/AEW, with some of the former ROH talents who appeared on the show still free agents.

Woods is believed to have been under contract for ‘about a month’, and has recorded two wins on AEW Dark since the beginning of June. Formerly part of NXT from 2015 to 2016, Woods was part of Ring of Honor from 2017 until ROH’s self-imposed hiatus in Q1 2022.
