WWE made another round of releases last week, with the most notable name on the list being that of Killian Dain.

Now, per a report from Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, one reason Dain's release was for not being ‘Vince McMahon’s type of guy.’

Meltzer claims that WWE has changed its hiring process recently, with a renewed interest in younger talent, and physically bigger talent, and whilst Dain clearly adhered to the second part of that ideology, he just wasn’t preferred by WWE management for whatever reason.

“Yeah, but that's not Vince's type of guy,” said Meltzer “and he had been through it, and I think that just, obviously, they didn't just think, you know they have got 300-pound guys, and I think they just didn't feel he was one that they were going to push.”

The former Big Damo had been with WWE since 2016, most notably in NXT as part of the Sanity stable. Dain’s release came as a shock to many fans, as he was a regularly featured performer on NXT, with partner Drake Maverick.
