Report: Madison Square Garden Under Consideration For WWE SummerSlam 2021

Could WWE be returning to MSG?

A slip by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer seems to suggest that WWE are considering holding this year's SummerSlam at Madison Square Garden.

It has been reported that WWE will look to kick-off their return to touring and welcoming live attendances back regularly to their shows with SummerSlam this year, with the company considering a number of venues for the show.

A conversation between Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio has seemingly seen further details come to light. As the duo discussed All Elite Wrestling's announcing their return to live events, Alvarez noted that WWE had pencilled in a date for SummerSlam but no venue had been announced.

Meltzer, at this point, would say he'd 'heard Madison Square Garden' before quickly clarifying that he should not have said that. However, he did then dismiss Alvarez's offer to edit the slip out of the recording.

It should be noted that this does not mean WWE will not definitely be hosting SummerSlam 2021, but it does appear the historic venue is being considered at the very least.

The last WWE Pay-Per-View to be hosted as MSG was Survivor Series 2011.
