Big plans for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 39
WWE have major plans for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39.
According to WrestleVotes, it is not 100% set in stone but there are plans in place within WWE for GUNTHER to defend the Intercontinental Title against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre.
"I'm told while not decided 100%, there are plans to feature an Intercontinental Championship 3 way match at WrestleMania: Gunther v Sheamus v Drew McIntyre. There are a number of supporters within creative that not only want the match, but they want it towards the top. TBD," WrestleVotes tweeted.
GUNTHER eliminated both Sheamus and Drew McIntyre from the Men's Royal Rumble on January 28, and GUNTHER and Sheamus previously feuded over the Intercontinental Championship in 2022. Sheamus recently said that he wants to complete the trilogy with Der Ring General and have their third match at WrestleMania 39.
Sheamus has made it his aim to win the Intercontinental Championship since he returned from a serious concussion in early 2020. He currently teams with Drew McIntyre as The Banger Bros.
