Report: Match With Brock Lesnar "Key" To Cain Velasquez Potentially Joining WWE

Lesnar could be WWE Champion on Friday evening...

Reports surfaced on Monday suggesting Cain Velasquez is in talks with WWE, AEW and NJPW.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has earned rave reviews for his performances in the squared circle for AAA in Mexico - specifically, his role in a six-man bout at Triplemania XXVII that also involved the likes of Psycho Clown, Cody Rhodes and Killer Kross.

A report from Dave Meltzer on mmafighting.com states that a key to WWE getting any Velasquez deal over the line would be a money-spinning match with Brock Lesnar. For the avoidance of any doubt, here's what Meltzer penned: "The key to the WWE offer would be building a showdown with Brock Lesnar, the WWE’s highest-paid wrestler, and the 2010 fight where Velasquez beat Lesnar to win the UFC championship."

Lesnar takes on Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship this coming Friday night and with the new SmackDown reportedly taking on a more sports orientated presentation, many expect the former Universal Champion to take the gold from The New Day member.

It would appear that a move to WWE is the most likely scenario for Velasquez, with Meltzer noting on Wrestling Observer Radio that his party has held "serious talks" with Vince McMahon et al.

A professional wrestling matchup between The Beast Incarnate and Cardio Cain would be a mouthwatering affair, with Cain defeating Lesnar inside the UFC octagon back in 2010.
