Report: MJF Cleared Controversial AEW Dynamite Promo With Konosuke Takeshita

Konosuke Takeshita and MJF had a promo exchange on AEW Dynamite

As has become common since All Elite Wrestling was founded in 2019, Maxwell Jacob Friedman didn't hold back in his promo on the January 11 episode of Dynamite.

Appearing ahead of Konosuke Takeshita's match with Bryan Danielson on the show, MJF proceeded to poke fun at Takeshita's surname before he told him that people in America speak English. This prompted the Japanese star to tell Friedman to kiss his ass. While the promo largely passed without incident, some did criticise MJF for making fun of Takeshita's surname.

Although the segment has been criticised by some, Friedman won't have any heat with Takeshita. The AEW World Champion cleared the promo with the rising star before the show, according to Fightful Select.

Takeshita ultimately lost to Bryan Danielson in a widely-praised match on Dynamite. This means Danielson only has to win his next four matches in order to earn an AEW World Title shot at Revolution. Should The American Dragon advance to Revolution, he and MJF will square off in an Iron Man Match.

Next week, Danielson will go one-on-one with Bandido.
