Report: More Backstage News On The Drew McIntyre-Goldberg WWE Raw Segment

Goldberg returned to WWE TV earlier this week and cut a nonsensical promo about Drew McIntyre. The WWE Hall Of Famer claimed McIntyre had no respect for WWE legends and then accused The Scottish Psychopath of thinking none of the legends pose a threat to him. He said this isn't the case and challenged Drew to a WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble. 

McIntyre immediately told Goldberg his claims weren't true, but "fighting you would be like fighting my own dad." Raw then went off the air after both men started butting heads. 

The segment was reportedly the victim of timing issues on WWE Raw and McIntyre's planned promo about the WWE Legends was left on the cutting room floor. Goldberg delivered his promo as scripted, though, which is why it didn't make much sense. 

Fightful Select has now provided more details about the segment. People backstage in WWE hoped Goldberg would improvise during his promo to ensure it made sense, but he ended up just delivering the lines as they were written down. Drew McIntyre did ad-lib, though, and spontaneously uttered the "fighting my own dad" line. 

Raw also reportedly fell behind schedule quite early on and WWE was already pressed for time after scripts for the show were late.
