Report: NJPW/STARDOM Backstage Reaction To Mercedes Moné Revealed

Speaking on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about the backstage reaction to Mercedes Moné during her recent appearances in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and STARDOM. 

Meltzer explained:

"She was very well received backstage. She's really trying to fit in. No complaints about doing the job here. No 'big league' or whatever. She did not act like 'I'm a big [star.]' A lot of times when American stars come to Japan, they act like they’re big stars. Less now, but in the old days it was pretty prevalent. And she had none of that. She's worldwide more famous than any of these women, but she did not come across like that at all. Very, very well received."

Formerly known as Sasha Banks in WWE, Moné captured the IWGP Women's Championship from KAIRI in her debut match for NJPW at Battle in the Valley. She successfully defended the title in a triple threat against AZM and Hazuki at Sakura Genesis 2023 earlier this month, before losing it to Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM's recent All Star Grand Queendom show.
