Report: No Plans For Top NXT Star To Receive Main Roster Call Up
Don't expect to see this top NXT star on the main roster yet
Trick Williams has been lighting up the NXT brand in recent months, and is entering this week with his toughest test yet as he challenges Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at Spring Breakin’, but if he loses, Williams must leave NXT for good. Although this stipulation could open the door to a main roster call up, this doesn’t seem to be on the cards right now for Williams.
According to a report from Fightful Select, there are no current plans for Williams to be called up to the main roster in the upcoming WWE Draft, though it was apparently previously discussed. The idea is for Williams to be the new face and figurehead of NXT, especially after Bron Breakker was promoted and soon to be main roster bound Carmelo Hayes & Ilja Dragunov will be heading out of developmental too. It is said that WWE officials are high on Williams and see him as a future star.
The report states that the buzz for Williams dated back to his debut, where despite his inexperience, he showed great work ethic and a knack for taking to the business very quickly. For now though, he will be continuing to hone his skills in NXT before moving up to RAW or SmackDown.
