Report: 'Nobody Is Talking' About Gable Steveson Following Disastrous WWE In-Ring Debut

Latest on Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson's immediate WWE future doesn't look positive.

The Olympic gold medallist made his WWE in-ring debut at NXT Great American Bash on July 30 as Steveson went one-on-one with Baron Corbin. Steveson initially received a huge ovation from the fans in Cedar Park, Texas but they soon turned against him, chanting "You're not Angle" and booing Steveson whenever he was on offence. Baron Corbin even drew cheers, something rarely seen outside of Paris, France

The finish of a double count-out was then widely panned, and Steveson hasn't appeared on any WWE programming since, despite the lack of a decisive finish at the Great American Bash.

In an update on Steveson, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that "all is quiet" and "nobody is talking" about Steveson within WWE, suggesting the standout amateur wrestler won't be on WWE TV in the near future. The amateur wrestling world championships are only one month away and although Steveson planned to compete, it has yet to be revealed if WWE have given him permission or not.
