Report: NXT UK Star Released From WWE Contract Whilst Injured
A recent WWE NXT UK release was still on the injury list
Aug 31, 2022
The recent ‘closure’ of NXT UK as WWE makes the pivot to NXT Europe caught many off guard, whilst simultaneously not being the greatest of surprises.
After the news was announced, much of NXT UK’s active roster was released from their WWE contracts, and per a report from Fightful Select, one star was cut whilst out injured.
The report suggests that Flash Morgan Webster was cut despite being out of action, with the Welsh born star having reportedly re-signed with WWE earlier this year with the belief being that Webster wanted to be taken care of during the healing and rehabilitation process. It's believed that Webster's original deal expired this year, and that 'The Modfather' passed on two different contracts before signing a renewed deal.
Webster has been out of action since late 2021, last wrestling for NXT UK in October. Fightful’s report suggests that Webster’s surgeon had cleared him for a return shortly before his release, but his physio had not. A former member of the 205 Live roster, Webster had been with WWE since 2018.
WWE have in the past avoided releasing injured wrestlers, as opposed to WCW who infamously fired wrestlers who were on the shelf.
