Report: Reason Why Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah Won WWE Women's Tag Titles
WWE have big plans for one member of the team...
This past Monday on Raw, Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah prevailed in the tournament to crown new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, beating Dakota Kai and IYO SKY in the finals.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer claimed that the main reason behind the decision is that the company are looking to get Rodriguez over.
According to Meltzer, one of WWE's current creative goals is turning her into a big star and that her and Aliyah winning the titles is part of that plan, saying "They are trying to get Raquel Rodriguez over as a big star. That is one of the things they are trying to do right now".
New head of WWE creative Paul 'Triple H' Levesque took to Twitter to congratulate the new champions after their victory, writing:
"The culmination featuring some of the brightest stars from the @WWE and @WWENXT Women's Divisions. Congratulations to @RaquelWWE and @WWE_Aliyah on their #WWERaw MAIN EVENT win and becoming the new Women's Tag Team Champions!!! #JustTheBeginning"
