Report: Original Finish Of AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door Main Event Changed Due To Bryan Danielson Injury

Bryan Danielson’s injury forced the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door main event finish to change

Bryan Danielson prides himself on being the best wrestler in the world, and an emphatic victory over Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II on June 25 only strengthened Danielson’s case.

During the course of the match Danielson suffered an arm break after awkwardly taking a top rope diving elbow drop from Okada, but despite this Danielson soldiered on for another 10 minutes, forcing Okada to tap.

Danielson got the win with a modified stretch, using his legs and working arm to bend Okada’s arm back and apply pressure on the shoulders. Per a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter whilst Danielson was always scheduled to submit Okada, his injury meant that the likely finish of a LeBell Lock tap-out was changed.

‘The American Dragon’ is set to be on the sidelines for a while as a result of his injury, and early estimates of a late August return could be out of the window, with the severity of Danielson’s injury worse than originally thought.
