Report: Original Plans For Botched WWE SmackDown Spot Revealed

A big angle was originally planned for WWE SmackDown

A botch took place on last week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown during the segment between Karrion Kross and Drew McIntyre.

After a brawl broke out between both men, Scarlett protected Kross in the corner and shot a fireball at McIntyre. Instead of going near Irn Dru's face, though, the fireball went wide left and Scarlett ended up decking McIntyre with a Low Blow. Kross then choked Drew out with the Kross Jacket and accepted his challenge for a Strap Match at Extreme Rules.

The original plans for the segment have now been revealed and Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that McIntyre was supposed to be surrounded by medics after the incident in a big commotion. Those plans were ultimately changed on the fly after the fireball missed.

"The angle on Friday was supposed to be a fireball to the face, and then, the medics out, doctors out, this big commotion. It was supposed to be this big angle. And obviously, the fireball missed," Meltzer said.

Previous reports noted that the fireball missed because the flash paper was not ready for live TV.

McIntyre and Kross have been at odds since the two-time NXT Champion returned to WWE in the summer, and Kross even distracted The Scottish Warrior during his Undisputed WWE Universal Title match against Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle.
