Report: Original Plans For Mustafa Ali's WWE Return Revealed

More on Mustafa Ali's WWE return

Six months on from a heated disagreement with Vince McMahon that led to him being pulled from WWE TV, Mustafa Ali returned to Monday Night Raw on April 25.

The former SmackDown Hacker interrupted The Miz's episode of Miz TV with Theory and Ali revealed he wanted a shot at the United States Championship. Theory had no interest in putting the gold on the line, though, and Ali ended up facing The Miz instead after The A-Lister made repeated references to Mustafa's job status.

Ali defeated The Miz in their match, countering a Figure-Four Leglock into a roll-up before the former 205 Live talent was levelled by the returning Ciampa.

Ali's win wasn't the original plan, though, according to Fightful Select and the 36-year-old was originally set to lose to The Miz in his return match as of Sunday afternoon.

There is no word on why WWE altered the finish, but the rest of the segment went ahead as originally planned.

Upon returning to Raw, Ali was scheduled to meet with John Laurinaitis backstage and several members of the roster and WWE staff were excited to see the former RETRIBUTION leader at WWE TV.
