WWE have announced that the 2022 NXT Women's Breakout Tournament will begin in two weeks (on the May 10 episode of the show).
The first few participants were announced throughout last night's show.
The first was Arianna Grace. Real name Bianca Carelli, Grace is the daughter of former WWE star Santino Marella. In her introductory video she mentioned that she had trained in boxing and MMA.
Kiana James was also announced for the tournament.
James has previously performed under the names Kayla Inlay and Xtina Kay and appeared on AEW Dark last year. In her vignette she discussed working in the corporate world. She has competed in (and lost) five matches across NXT and NXT Level Up since the beginning of the year.
Another name confirmed was Sloane Jacobs, who said that at 19-years-old she wanted to be the youngest Women's Champion in history.
Jacobs previously wrestled a handful of enhancement matches for AEW under the name Notorious Mimi. She has recently lost matches to Nikita Lyons and Roxanne Perez on NXT and NXT Level Up.
Lash Legend noted in a backstage segment that she was in the tournament as well.
