Powerhouse Hobbs was set to be featured prominently at Wednesday night's tapings of AEW Dynamite and Collision but plans had to be changed as the former TNT Champion was not cleared for action. This was due to stitches that Hobbs recently had not being fully healed.

Hobbs still appeared on Dynamite in a pre-taped promo and he has reportedly been told he will need another week on the shelf before making his in-ring comeback.

Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the original plans for Dynamite called for Hobbs to have another brawl with Big Bill, following up on the brawl they had on the January 25 episode of Collision. This would have led to a Street Fight in the main event of Collision on February 1, with the episode being taped on Wednesday night following Dynamite in Huntsville, Alabama.

As the plans for Hobbs had to be scrapped late on, AEW opted to air video packages on Dynamite to replace the cancelled brawl between Hobbs and Big Bill. The promotion also added a Mid-South Street Fight between FTR and the Death Riders' Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta to Collision to substitute for Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Big Bill.
