Report: Original Plans For SmackDown Tag Team Title Match At WWE WrestleMania 38 Revealed

The Usos vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs went down at WrestleMania 38 night one

As seen as WrestleMania 38 night one, the SmackDown Tag team Championship match between The Usos and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs was hampered when Boogs suffered an injury.

The injury forced plans to change on the fly, with a report from Fightful Select stating that the match was originally meant to go 15 minutes (including entrances) with The Usos always scheduled to retain the titles.

The report also states that originally the planned night one match between The New Day and Ridge Holland & Sheamus was supposed to be the shortest on the card, and was always intended to be the ‘flex’ match to be bumped if needed. Despite Usos vs. Nakamura & Boogs being cut short, the decision was still made to bump New Day vs. Sheamus & Ridge, with Fightful stating that “at least one person involved with the match appeared to be very upset about it as they were only budgeted for ten minutes with entrances as is.”

Eventually New Day vs. Sheamus & Ridge took place on WrestleMania 38 night two, with Sheamus & Ridge winning in a little under two minutes.
