Report: Plan For WWE Egg Storyline Was Originally "Much Worse"

Worse than the egg hunt

WWE's much-discussed egg storyline came to an end on the November 22 edition of Monday Night Raw.

The golden egg, one of Cleopatra's from the movie 'Red Notice', first appeared at the Survivor Series pay-per-view with Vince McMahon touting it as a gift from The Rock. The item ended up being stolen on Sunday, though, and after a furious search for the egg on Raw, the thief was revealed to be Austin Theory, who earned a WWE Title shot as a result of handing himself in.

While the storyline failed to impress many fans, with many mocking it on social media over the past couple of days, the whole situation could have been worse.

A different plan was originally pitched for the angle, which Fightful Select noted would have been "much worse" than what ended up airing on Monday Night Raw. There is no word on what the original pitch was, however.

Fightful also noted that WWE received an "insane" amount of money from the promotional deal with Netflix for Red Notice and some heard backstage that the figure was in the seven figures.
