At Hell In A Cell, Drew McIntyre once again defended the WWE Championship against Randy Orton. While The Scottish Psychopath had been successful in their previous encounters, he was unable to overcome Orton inside the steel structure and The Viper executed his plan to perfection to capture his 14th world title.

How the company will book McIntyre in the coming months is currently unknown, but Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the planned WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 37 is Randy Orton vs. Edge.

Meltzer said: "I certainly was given the impression tonight that it's Orton and Edge is the direction right now for that championship."

News of Edge vs. Orton at The Showcase Of The Immortals was first reported by Meltzer back in July. WWE then reportedly changed their mind in August as there was no longer "a 100 percent clear main event direction" for The Show Of Shows, but the company has now reverted back to one of its original plans.

Of course, the plan may change again between now and March 28.
