Report: Possible Reason CM Punk Wasn't At AEW Dynamite

CM Punk hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since his win at Revolution

After his gruelling victory over MJF in a dog collar match at AEW Revolution, CM Punk did not make the subsequent post-PPV edition of AEW Dynamite, nor was he on Wednesday's show.

Whilst Punk would be forgiven for taking time off after bleeding buckets in the run-up to and during the match, a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has potentially shed light on Punk’s absence.

The report states that Punk will be away filming the second series of Starz ‘Heels’, with the wrestling-themed drama set to be in production over the next several weeks.

In the series, Punk plays veteran indie wrestler Ricky Rabies, with Punk taking inspiration from the much-missed former ECW star Tracy Smothers in portraying the TV heel.

Series one of Heels ran for eight episodes between August and October 2021, and currently holds a 96% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series follows the fictional Spade brothers, who are feuding in and out of the ring over their deceased father’s regional Georgia wrestling promotion.
