Report: Reason Bobby Fish Departed AEW Revealed

Why Bobby Fish exited AEW

Bobby Fish quietly departed All Elite Wrestling after his contract expired on August 31 and further details on his departure have been revealed.

Fightful Select reported that Fish and AEW held talks about renewing the reDRagon member's contract and there was interest from both parties about getting a deal done. They ultimately couldn't come to terms on a financial package, though, which resulted in Fish exiting the company at the end of August.

AEW believed the split to be amicable until Fish began to tweet about the promotion and CM Punk. The 45-year-old remains on good terms with many in the company, although Fightful noted he did have issues with Punk stemming from their match in October of 2021 as Fish did not appreciate the former AEW World Champion's attitude.

Fish's post-AEW future remains uncertain beyond upcoming independent wrestling appearances. If a WWE return is possible is unknown but it was noted no creative ideas have been discussed for Fish within the company.

The former NXT Tag Team Champion's final AEW appearance came in early August when Adam Cole and reDRagon turned on The Young Bucks. Adam Cole remains out of action due to a serious concussion, however, and Kyle O'Reilly recently underwent neck fusion surgery. Fightful reported there wasn't "much by the way of creative plans" for Fish after O'Reilly was injured.
