Report: Reason Former NJPW Talent Was At WWE Performance Center Revealed

Why a former NJPW talent was at the WWE Performance Center

While WWE have largely focused on recruiting college athletes over the past year, a former New Japan Pro-Wrestling talent was at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida last week.

Reports noted that Karl Fredericks had been spotted at the training facility but what he was doing in Florida was unknown.

Now, though, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has noted that Fredericks was at the Performance Center for a private tryout. There is no word on if WWE offered him a contract.

Fredericks is currently a free agent following his departure from NJPW in August. He had been with the company for four years, primarily competing on the promotion's events in the United States, and he opted not to sign a new deal with New Japan. Since then, Fredericks has returned to the independent scene in California, competing for UWN and on a joint West Coast Pro/Prestige Wrestling event.

If Fredericks were to sign with WWE, he would be one of the few former indy talents the company has brought in this year, along with the likes of Roxanne Perez.
