WWE WrestleMania 39 Return For John Cena Teased

Could John Cena return at WWE WrestleMania 39?

We haven’t seen John Cena in a WrestleMania match since the Firefly Funhouse at WrestleMania 36, but could the multi-time former world champion be set for a WrestleMania 39 bout?

That could be the case if recent comments from Michael Cole are anything to go off, with Cole saying the following during the Drew McIntyre vs. Austin Theory match on the September 30 edition of WWE SmackDown:

“No doubt Austin Theory is one of most talented we have seen in a while. He could use an Attitude Adjustment though.”

Cole's use of 'Attitude Adjustment' was surely no accident, with a WrestleMania return for Cena the most fitting outcome. Theory and Cena have long been teasing a match, with the pair sharing a segment on the June 27 edition of RAW, and a singles bout between the two would be huge for Theory.

Firefly Funhouse aside, Cena’s last ‘traditional’ WrestleMania bout was at WrestleMania 34 in 2018, where the ‘Leader of the Cenation’ was obliterated by The Undertaker in less than three minutes. During his career, Cena wrestled at 15 WrestleManias, starting with his win over US Champion Big Show at WrestleMania XX in 2004. After Mania XX, Cena wrestled at the next 10 WrestleManias in a row, before missing WrestleMania 32 in 2016. He did appear at that show, though, making the save for The Rock from the Wyatt Family.
