Report: Reason Why John Cena Will Not Be Wrestling At SummerSlam 2022

John Cena will not be at SummerSlam

It’s the biggest party of the Summer, and unfortunately it looks like John Cena won’t be attending, as SummerSlam 2022 is not set to feature the 16-time world champion in action.

Cena returned to WWE screens last month, and rumours swirled that he was potentially set to wrestle Theory at SummerSlam, but according to Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez, Cena will be busy filming season two of HBO’s Peacemaker:

"I can confirm that being filmed right now is Peacemaker 2 and John Cena is involved. He's working on Peacemaker 2 as we speak. I presume that's why there have been discussions of him doing SummerSlam but then he showed up on Raw to announce 'someday I'll be back. I don't know when, don't know where but I'll be back someday.' Apparently, he's filming Peacemaker and that's why he can't do SummerSlam,” said Alvarez.

Like we’ve seen with The Rock, Hollywood and TV commitments take precedent over wrestling appearances at this stage in Rock and Cena’s careers. So for now it seems we’ll have to wait a little while longer until Cena laces up his Reebok Pumps again.
