Report: Recent WWE Hire Held Talks With AEW

According to a recent report by Fightful Select, recent WWE hire Cathy Kelley was in talks with AEW prior to re-signing with her former employer.

"Fightful sources had indicated earlier this year that Cathy had conversations with All Elite Wrestling. We're told that included speaking to Tony Khan directly at some point about the possibility of working there, and that things actually looked promising. However, that didn't end up happening. We haven't learned why that was the case or what side ended up keeping it from going down, or how far talks actually got. 

"We're told Kelley and AEW remained on solid terms before she headed back to WWE."

This follows GiveMeSports' report that WWE had reached out to Renee Paquette shortly before her signing with AEW. This seems to indicate that competition between the two promotions remains strong in terms of the race to sign talent - both in-ring and non-wrestling figures.

Kelley originally worked with WWE between 2016 and 2020 - primarily as a backstage interviewer, but also appearing in other roles too. Since returning, she has been part of Monday Night Raw.
