WWE reportedly had original plans to break up RETRIBUTION in a huge blow-off at WWE WrestleMania 37.

The faction seemingly came to an end on the Fastlane pre-show on Sunday when Mustafa Ali berated the rest of the group following his United States Championship match loss to Riddle, leading to Reckoning and Mace walking away from their leader before Mace and T-Bar attacked him.

Ali has been working despite suffering a torn PCL and Wrestling Inc is reporting that the RETRIBUTION leader suffered that injury in a match with Ricochet on the December 28, 2020 episode of RAW.

Ali continued to push through but seemingly further caused further damage to it when he felt his leg lock at the Royal Rumble. An MRI scan the next day showed Ali would require surgery and rehab.

The 34-year-old would continue to appear on television, however, berating his RETRIBUTION teammates. The report goes on to say that, with Ali willing to work through his injury, the plan was to build to RETRIBUTION's implosion at WrestleMania 37.

It appears Ali's decision to continue working despite his injury was to allow the stable that big moment on 'The Grandest Stage Of Them All'. However, WWE made the decision to bring the disbandment forward to Fastlane.

Neither Ali or any former member of RETRIBUTION was seen on Raw on Monday, suggesting the story has reached a conclusion.
