Report: Rey Mysterio Injured On Friday's WWE SmackDown

Mysterio ended up not competing in the men's Rumble

Rey Mysterio was unable to compete in last night's men's Royal Rumble match, after reportedly sustaining an injury during Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Mysterio failed to appear for his entrance at number 17. Son Dominik entered at number 18, and ripped up his father's mask as he made his way toward the ring, the implication being that he (and possibly other Judgment Day members) attacked Rey backstage.

Dave Meltzer explained on Wrestling Observer Radio, "Rey Mysterio was injured last night in Laredo at the SmackDown tapings in a match with Karrion Kross. He was going to be in the Rumble, but that spot was changed ... I think they were actually supposed to do some teases with (Dominik) in the Rumble to set up the WrestleMania match but, obviously, they couldn't do it because Rey's injured."

While the exact nature of the injury has not been reported, Meltzer went on to say, "Hopefully, Rey's injury isn't anything serious, but I guess it was serious enough that he couldn't do what was planned in the match."
