Report: Rhea Ripley Vs. Charlotte Flair To Likely Main Event WWE WrestleMania 39 Night One For 'Political Reasons'

"Political reasons" are behind the likely night one of WrestleMania 39 main event

While it has not been outright confirmed by WWE, it was suggested this week that the SmackDown Women's Title clash between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley will main event night one of WrestleMania 39 on April 1.

It was reported in recent weeks that Flair vs. Ripley was the favoured main event of WrestleMania 39, although some fans suggested that the rumoured tag team title match of The Usos vs. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens should go on last on April 1 due to the popularity of the Bloodline programme.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, "political reasons" mean Flair vs. Ripley will likely headline night one. A second world title match of Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins or Drew McIntyre was originally scheduled to main event the April 1 show but that plan was scrapped after The Rock turned down a match with Roman Reigns at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Ripley earned the opportunity to challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Title after winning the women's Royal Rumble in January.
